I have been continuing to play around with my small doll pattern. I am now much happier with how they are looking . The image above is showing how my dolls have changed through the redesign. From left to right a doll I made 2 years Ago, one I made in the middle of making changes a couple of months ago, and my most recent doll. As you can (hopefully) see the body has become firmer, with a defined neck and more realistic shape. Further details below
The body.
The body of my dolls have undergone some pretty major changes with a neck now in place and a firmer needle felted body it feels a lot more sturdy and looks more realistically proportioned. It's also now got a felted bottom☺️
The arms
minor changes to the arms- now applied by ladder stitch to the body. It now looks more realistic in how it moves and hangs from the body.
Hi Debbie
ReplyDeleteJust reading through your journey into doll making, I'm a little further into it than you. I follow, and love some of the same makers that you do......have a look at Mum & Dot she makes amazing faces - I aspire to make them like her.
Also on the subject of feet. I too wasn't happy with them- check out my blog https://suewhittles.wordpress.com/?s=amputation . My dolls now have proper feet! Susie x
Thanks Susie,
ReplyDeleteI also love Mum and Dot dolls, what a talented doll maker! I've been over to your blog to see how you do your feet and that's just what I need to do I think! I've been looking for something that will allow me to keep the seams on the sides of the legs so the knees don't have a seam running right down the middle, but will still allow me to have a shaped foot. I think your method will fit with what I'm after! I'll have to play around with some spare doll skin when I next get a chance! Thanks so much for directing me to it.👍😀
